I’m passionate about integrating art and creativity in my daily classroom routines and I’m so happy to be able to share my ideas with others. My goals as an elementary educator are to focus on the importance of social relationships & boosting self esteem, fresh air and sunshine whenever possible, and creative expression in my classroom.
I’ve taught grades kindergarten, 1st, 2nd, 4th, and 5th in Alaska and Oregon. I began teaching on 2005 and have loved every unique adventure that each school year brings. I’m a 3rd generation teacher. My grandmother immigrated from Norway in 1907 and taught in the Dakotas and California beginning in the 1930s. My parents both taught in northern California from the late 60s until the early 2000s. My mom even taught in the same building for 36 years before retiring. If you look carefully, you’ll find several old lesson plans from my parents on this website. (My dad’s lessons are hand-written!) My mom and dad retired during my first year of teaching, so I inherited several filing cabinets worth of their cool ideas.
When I’m not teaching I can be found spending time with my family. We love to explore all of the natural wonders of Oregon. My kids, my spouse and I happily reside in Bend and we enjoy hiking, camping, dancing at music festivals, and simply relaxing in our backyard with the neighborhood squirrels and deer.
